I retired from the Law Enforcement profession in 2017 after 26 years of service. Throughout my career, I have held the position of supervisor within the ranks of the South Carolina Highway Patrol MAIT (Multi-disciplinary Accident Investigation Team) and the Program Manager for Traffic Safety Unit at the South Carolina Criminal Justice Academy. The Traffic Unit is responsible for all aspects of training both basic and advanced officers in the areas of Traffic Safety. I was responsible for a yearly training budget of approximately $600,000. In my current position, I served as the liaison between the South Carolina Criminal Justice Academy and The SC Department of Public Safety’s Office of Highway Safety and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA.) I managed eight (8) employees, schedule all Advanced Training classes for the Traffic Unit and write our grants every year. The Traffic Unit provides approximately 150 classes per year to roughly 5,000 students. I am also an active instructor and teach approximately 1,000 hours of classroom training per year. In addition to my work at SCCJA. In 2017 I began operating my own company the Traffic Safety Training Center. These courses are in the area of Collision Reconstruction and are taught all across the United States. I am a nationally recognized expert in the field of Traffic Safety. Upon becoming the Traffic Safety Manager at the Criminal Justice Academy, I implemented collision reconstruction training involving live crash tests to assist the students in applying classroom training in a real-world environment. These classes are Collision Reconstruction (Car vs. Car), Motorcycle Collision Reconstruction (Motorcycle vs Car) and Pedestrian/Bicycle (Car vs. Pedestrian/Bicycle). These collisions utilize crash dummies to simulate the dynamics of collisions on the human body.
