Woodrow M. Poplin, P.E. is President of W Poplin Engineering LLC and a consulting engineer in the areas of accident reconstruction and analysis including heavy vehicle event data recorder (HVEDR) downloads, collision analysis, failure analysis, vehicle accident simulation and airbag control module (ACM) download and analysis. Mr. Poplin received his B.S. degree and M.S. degrees in Mechanical Engineering and his Master of Engineering degree in Civil Engineering from the University of South Carolina. He is a Registered Professional Engineer and is accredited as a reconstructionist by the Accreditation Commission for Traffic Accident Reconstruction (ACTAR #74). During the past 37 years, Mr. Poplin has evaluated over 3400 vehicle accidents approximately 1/3 involving heavy trucks. He has served as an expert witness on numerous civil cases and has designed tie down and lifting components used in trucking transportation.
