Shane Copeland, President and founder of Copeland Collision Consulting, LLC is a south Georgia native. He is a graduate of Georgia Christian School in Valdosta, Georgia where he served four years as class president. In spite of a 19 year marriage and three children, he recently graduated from Valdosta State University with a Bachelors of Science in Criminal Justice. He is a SCUBA Rescue Divemaster and is currently acquiring his commercial pilot’s license. Shane served the state of Georgia as a Trooper at Post 31, Valdosta from 2008 to 2017. He is the current Corporal and team leader over the Specialized Collision Reconstruction Team in Troop I. He is also a Deacon at the Dasher Church of Christ and a member of three local music bands.
Shane began surveying and mapping in 1995 with McLeod Surveying Company. There, he became proficient in the fields of geometry and calculus. He took these acquired skills to the 86th Georgia State Trooper Academy with aspirations of someday becoming a member of the Specialized Collision Reconstruction Team (S.C.R.T.). Shane successfully completed On-Scene Crash Investigation Levels 1-2, Accident Reconstruction Levels 1-5 as well as Pedestrian Crash Investigation, Motorcycle Crash Investigation, Commercial Motor Vehicle Reconstruction and Forensic Mapping/Computer Aid Drafting. In 2016, he completed the Momentum Angle Measurement course and passed the state of Georgia reconstruction comprehensive exam certifying him as a Crash Reconstruction Specialist. He is certified in forensic photography, ECM/ACM vehicle imaging and is a NAS Commercial Motor Vehicle inspector. He recently completed the ACTAR accreditation process.
Mr. Copeland has investigated over 2000 crashes as a Trooper, 231 of which were fatalities. He has investigated and or assisted other investigators with hundreds of serious injury crashes. He has testified in numerous court and deposition settings.
