Todd Hutchison is an owner of VCE, Incorporated, an Engineering and Special Technical Services Company in Nashville, Tennessee. He holds the position of Vice President of the Investigative Engineering Division.
This includes overseeing the forensic engineering and technical services investigations such as investigations of blasting damage, structural failures, roof evaluations, electrical and mechanical investigations, fire origin and cause, lightning damage investigations, personal injury accidents and traffic accident reconstruction. Mr. Hutchison’s expertise is within the field of traffic accident reconstruction.

Mr. Hutchison graduated from Middle Tennessee State University in 1981 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mass Communications in the photography emphasis with continued education at David Lipscomb College in mathematics. He owned and operated a commercial photography company from 1981-1985. During that time he also worked part time for VCE Inc. with his now late father Earl C. Hutchison PE assisting with his investigative work.

In 1985 Mr. Hutchison sold his photography company and became a full time employee of VCE Inc. obtaining his initial training in accident reconstruction from the Institute of Police Technology and Management (IPTM) at North Florida University in Jacksonville, Florida. Since the initial training he has amassed a total of 1362 hours in accident reconstruction short courses and seminars at IPTM, Texas A&M. Northwestern University and the University of Louisville.

To date Mr. Hutchison has performed over 1964 accident reconstruction investigations. His clients include attorneys, insurance companies and municipalities. He has given expert testimony either by depositions or in State Circuit, Chancery and Criminal Courts in the states of Tennessee, Kentucky, Arkansas and Mississippi approximately 139 times.

Mr. Hutchison holds the ACTAR Accreditation. ACTAR is a national accreditation organization and stands for Accreditation Commission for Traffic Accident Reconstruction. He has held his accreditation since 1996.

He has been involved with extensive crash testing of many types of vehicles including cars, small trucks, semi tractor trailers, buses motorcycles, pedestrian and bicycles.

Mr. Hutchison has written many articles for the VCE Investigative Newsletter and has given seminars in the field of accident reconstruction over the last 28 years.

Mr. Hutchison has been married to his wife Sheri for 38 years and has three daughters and 10 grandchildren. He is on the Elder Board at New Hope Community Church in Brentwood, TN and enjoys family life with his grandchildren and various forms of local and foreign mission work with his church.
