Mr. Christopher N. Sanchez is the founder and President of Beyond the Shield Consulting. He retired in November 2020, after 32 years with the Massachusetts State Police including over 13 years with the Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section. Upon retiring, Christopher was the senior supervisor of the Section, managing a team which served over 100 cities and towns in western Massachusetts. He was responsible for bringing the Massachusetts State Police onto the ACTAR Governing Board of Directors.

He has investigated over 1000 crashes, reconstructed over 400 fatal or serious injury collisions, reviewed hundreds of reconstruction reports and trained thousands of law enforcement officers in crash investigation.

Mr. Sanchez holds an Associate’s degree in Criminal Justice from Curry College. He is accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Traffic Accident Reconstruction (ACTAR) and has been trained in crash reconstruction by Northwestern University, the University of North Florida - Institute of Police Technology & Management, and the American Traffic Safety Services Association. Mr. Sanchez is a court recognized expert in Massachusetts district & superior courts, and has provided expert assistance to various district attorney’s offices during criminal trial cross examinations.

He has extensive training in visibility recreations, human factor analysis and is a Crash Data Retrieval Technician and Analyst. He has been an adjunct faculty for the Institute of Police Technology and Management since 2012, specializing in pedestrian bicyclist crash investigations.

In 2013, he presented the landmark case of Commonwealth v. Deveau to IPTM's Special Problems Conference. Since then, he has spoken on the subject of distracted driving investigations to the Governor’s Highway Safety Association, at international conferences, and to both public and private agencies across the country. Christopher spent five years as an advisory expert for the Massachusetts Strategic Highway Safety Plan.

Mr. Sanchez has investigated several high profile crashes and received numerous awards during his career with the Massachusetts State Police, including twice being the recipient of a Colonel’s Commendation.
