Ronald L. Huston is Professor Emeritus and Distinguished Research Professor at the University of Cincinnati. He is also Director of the Institute for Applied Interdisciplinary Research. He is a member of the Department of Mechanical and Materials Engineering.

Dr. Huston received a BS in Mechanical Engineering in 1959; an MS in Civil Engineering in 1961; and a PhD in Engineering Mechanics in 1962 with all degrees awarded by the University of Pennsylvania, PA. He is a licensed professional engineer (PE) in Ohio, Kentucky, Alabama, Louisiana, and Texas.

He has been a faculty member at the University of Cincinnati since 1962; Head of the Department of Engineering Analysis 1969-1975; Acting Senior Vice President and Provost 1982; and Interim Head of Chemical and Materials Engineering 2002-2003.

During sabbatical leaves he served as a Visiting Professor of Applied Mechanics at Stanford University (1979) and as Visiting Lecturer of Mechanical Engineering at Tianjin and Chongqing Universities in China (1985).

In 1979-1980 Dr. Huston served as Division Director of Civil and Mechanical Engineering at the National Science Foundation.

His fields of research are: Biomechanics and Cell Mechanics.

He is the author of 171 journal articles, 156 conference papers, 8 books, and 89 book reviews. He has served as a paper reviewer for over 35 journals. He has served as Technical Editor of Applied Mechanics Reviews, Associate Editor of Journal of Applied Mechanics, and regular reviewer for Zentralblatt Math. He is also a regular reviewer for the Hong Kong Research Council.

He has been the recipient of 34 research grants and contracts. He is an active consultant in safety, accident reconstruction, and injury biomechanics.
