Chad Lindstrom is currently a Specialist Sergeant assigned to the Traffic Crash Reconstruction Unit with the Michigan State Police. He joined the State Police in July of 2004 and graduated from the 120th Trooper Recruit School in December of 2004, where he was assigned to the Richmond Post as a Trooper. In October of 2011, Chad transferred to the Metro Post as a Trooper until November of 2012, when he was selected to serve as one of eight members in his current position within the Traffic Crash Reconstruction Unit.

Since his inception into the unit (2012), Chad has received over 2,000 hours of training related to traffic crash investigation/reconstruction and is one of two unit members tasked with completing investigations in the Detroit Metropolitan Area. He is tasked with instructing at Trooper Recruit Schools for the Michigan State Police and also instructs At-scene Traffic Crash Investigation and Advanced Traffic Crash Investigation courses with other members of the Traffic Crash Reconstruction Unit for Troopers, Deputies, and local police officers throughout the State of Michigan. In 2023, Chad became an Adjunct Instructor for the Institute of Police, Technology, and Management (IPTM) with the University of North Florida instructing the Level 1, Event Data Recorder Use in Traffic Crash Reconstruction class.

Chad was awarded accreditation with ACTAR in 2014 (ACTAR #2770) and was selected as an alternate representative for the Michigan State Police to serve on the Governing Board of Directors (GBOD) for ACTAR in 2015. In 2018, Chad became the primary representative for the GBOD and holds such status to the present day. Other organizations Chad is currently a member of include the National Association of Professional Accident Reconstruction Specialist (NAPARS) and the Michigan Association of Traffic Accident Investigators (MATAI). Chad is also a current board member with the latter of the two and was elected in 2017.

To date, Chad has assisted with over 800 traffic crash investigations since joining the Traffic Crash Reconstruction Unit. He has testified as an Expert Witness numerous times in several district and circuit courts throughout four counties in the Detroit Metropolitan Area (Wayne, Oakland, Macomb, and Washtenaw).

Chad's prior education, before joining the Michigan State Police, includes graduating from Negaunee High School in Michigan's Upper Peninsula as well as earning a Bachelor of Science Degree from Northern Michigan University in Criminal Justice, with a minor in Human Geography. Chad currently resides in Macomb County with his wife, Stefanie, who is also a Trooper with the Michigan State Police.
